Why do women entrepreneurs CONSISTENTLY MINIMIZE their wins? Since 2022, the team and I at SAFI Media have been tracking how women entrepreneurs: 👉🏾 Report on their wins 👉🏾 Relate to their success 👉🏾 Communicate about their accomplishments We have tracked nearly 100 women founders and several hundred “win submissions” in this time. In a recent detailed analysis of 60 win submissions over a 60-day period, we found that 🎉 33% of the women entrepreneurs owned their wins without apologizing, downplaying or qualifying. 🫣 67% of the women entrepreneurs we studied DID NOT own their wins outright. Rather, they ❌qualified,  ❌apologized for,  ❌expressed embarrassment or shame around,  ❌minimized the accomplishment. (Imagine if you minimized the wins and accomplishments your children, team members or friends shared. You know what you would be called? Emotionally abusive. Just saying.) Tracking and reporting on your wins is important for entrepreneurial development and growth. Why? Because when you consistently measure where you are TODAY as compared to where you were last week, last month, last quarter, last year… AND you celebrate the micro-improvements you make over time… You develop what psychologists call “a sense of self-efficacy” — the belief in your own competence. Self-efficacy is the root of CONFIDENCE, sustained performance, aspiring to more etc. Much has been made about the importance of CONFIDENCE in women’s development. And quantitatively I have 100% observed a link between higher performance and the ability to own even small accomplishments WITHOUT APOLOGY in the hundreds of women I have coached over the years. What’s more, as women continue to redefine what success looks like in the business world, it’s critical that we give other women permission to ✅ Own our excellence ✅ Celebrate our ‘enoughness’ ✅ Model the diverse ways success can look. It’s REALLY common on social platforms to complain about people sharing only the “highlight reels.” In our experience, when it comes to women reporting on our accomplishments, women are much more likely to share the low points. So many entrepreneurs *think* they have a marketing problem. Maybe you can relate. You are doing all the things you are supposed to do: 📲 You post on social media and "engage" 🗣 You guest on podcasts and speak on stages 👩🏽💻 You publish your weekly email newsletter religiously 🔎 You relentlessly revisit your niche and messaging They all work a *little* bit, but none give you the ROI you want or need to meet your growth targets. You figure your marketing is broken, or you are doing the wrong thing, so you either: 🏃♀️ Double down on what you are doing hoping that MORE will be better 🥵 Seek out yet another strategy or tactic to experiment with, so now rather than running 3 marginally effective marketing strategies you are running 4 marginally effective marketing strategies. 🧨 Fire your marketing agency/consulting/director because they aren't driving results I see the above scenario ALL THE TIME. And I would like to point out that *sometimes* your marketing is broken... But more often, the problem is that you are asking MARKETING to do SALES' job. I have had this very conversation with 4 women entrepreneurs in the last 2 weeks. They thought they had a marketing problem and didn't have enough leads. Not true. They had MORE than enough leads. The real problem was they they had not built a strong and vigorous sales function in their business. So they were building up tons of brand awareness and goodwill...and it had no place to go, and no mechanism to get turned into cash and profits. If you are taking consistent marketing actions and you are NOT sending proposals/booking sales calls/securing product demos on a WEEKLY basis... Your marketing isn't broken. Your sales system is broken. You wouldn't expect your bookkeeper to do your job. Don't expect marketing to do sales' job. Marketers: do you see this problem too? How do you address it? Why do entrepreneurs spend so much time NOT working on the one thing they really want? 👇🏾 More sales. Indeed, I have noticed that entrepreneurs routinely work on things that are "tangential" to sales: - working in their personal brand - developing their thought leadership - getting additional training and certifications - attending networking events - guesting on podcasts - writing a book It's not that these activities are BAD -- they CAN be valuable. But I often see entrepreneurs who WANT to grow sales... Focusing on everything BUT growing sales. On selling high ticket packages to premium buyers 💭 🙋🏽♀️over at SAFI Media we talk to a lot of consultants who offer high ticket, in-depth coaching and consulting work to leaders. Here are some tips on how to market and position your work and brand effectively to compete (and never on price!) 💰 First up: the big money always congregates in small rooms. ALWAYS. My highest earning clients generally have the smallest social media followings. One client who generates $45K per month consistently has 1249 followers on IG and roughly the same on LinkedIn Another client who does $85K per month consistently has 76 followers on IG and under 1200 followers on LinkedIn. When you understand the big money congregates in small rooms you will realize it’s not about “blowing up” on social media it is about… 💎 Being CRYSTAL clear on who you are for and who you are NOT for. Want to know the biggest objection/fear high end buyers have when it comes to hiring you? They don’t want to be surrounded with beginners and newbies. There are WAAAAY more newbies, beginners and low earners than there are premium buyers. If you want to market high ticket offers to discerning buyers (ESPECIALLY successful women who are worn out from helping erbody all the time)… You MUST demonstrate that you are FOR them and NOT FOR newbies. 🛠 Be SPECIFIC, FOCUSED and USEFUL. How do people get to be successful with enough disposable income to invest in high ticket service providers? ✅ Strong BS detectors ✅ Discerning with their money ✅ ROI focused If you can’t show how your offerings help premium buyers in clear, focused and practical ways… They will call BS and cheerfully start up the dialogue with your competition.
