JOY OF MISSING OUT: I discovered the concept of JOMO - the joy of missing out as opposed to, of course, FOMO the fear of missing out in the book Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. You can really beat yourself up because when you go down the FOMO path there are always going to be infinite other options and you can't possibly take all of them. You find yourself spinning your wheels, wondering if this is the best path or if that is the best path and not make any progress. Whereas the concept of JOMO means that you pick one. And once you've picked it, it's a joy because you just get on with it. You rule out all the other options that could have been and you're on the path. It's the right path because it's the one that you've chosen. You're actually getting on with it so you get better results and you're in a peaceful and focused headspace since you've eliminated the distracting options. Can you lean more into JOMO? Let me know.

This is the 12th and latest version of the Web Strategy Planning Template that I collaborate on with David Meerman Scott and which we first released back in 2010. It remains as useful today and it was over a decade ago. In fact it's been downloaded or printed over 1 million times and used in companies, universities and institutions all over the world. This edition has been updated to reflect the current tools and tech at our fingertips, and includes: ChatGPT X TikTok Online training programs Whilst the tools change... (previous version have had Google Plus, Clubhouse, Periscope and other digital relics!) ...the fundamentals remain the same. You need to build an audience, increase trust and nurture those relationships into commercial engagements. APRIL PLANNER: I hope you had a great Easter and Q1. It's hard to believe we're into the second quarter of the year, and in Australia we've said goodbye summer and had a change of season to Autumn. It's my favourite time of the year (plus it's my birthday month!) Life continues to treat us well on the Sunny Coast. Although I must admit having a newborn who is nearly 7 weeks old, the time is flying by and my newsletter schedule feels a bit out of whack right now. I'm a bit slow getting this to you, with Easter and all, but it's the start of the month and my team has prepared the April 2024 - Month Planner. But better late than never. TURNING UP: I had a proud Dad moment on Friday when my daughter progressed up to the next level of 'learn to swim' lessons. During each individual swim class it rarely feels like there's much 'progress'. However cumulatively, over a 3 month period, the progress is significant and noticeable. It's very cool to witness. Each week we turn up, do the coach's exercises and we trust the process. I feel a similar sense of pride when my clients make progress with their own marketing engine. Week-in, week-out it may feel like there's not been a 'huge breakthrough' moment, but when you join them all together 12 weeks is more than enough time to implement big change. Whether it's noticing another 300 dream prospects have accepted your connection request, or realising your LinkedIn newsletter has amassed 1000 subscribers or that you've re-engaged with dozens of dormant leads... Your daily activity translates into serious momentum! With my coaching clients, every 90 days we do a quarterly scorecard review together, and we objectively review their progress across the board.
