Exploring Maldives

Golden Triangle & Maldives Beach Break

This is the perfect tour for those looking for a taste of India and a relaxing beach break all in one trip.

The 8 day tour of India’s Golden Triangle strikes a perfect balance of experiences –  the rich history and bustling city life of Old and New Delhi, the breathtaking beauty and romance of the iconic Taj Mahal, and the vibrancy of Jaipur’s colourful markets and enchanting palaces. Then it’s on to the Maldives for 4 blissful days of sun, snorkelling and relaxation.

We especially love this tour for its stark contrast of experiences. As with all our tours, we can tailor this for you – just contact our specialist via email at maldives@fleewinter.com to discuss adding or removing days, alternative accommodation or any other changes.

Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to India!

This morning your overnight flight arrives in to Delhi, bursting with history and tradition. Your private driver and guide will greet you at New Delhi International Airport and transport you to your comfortable accommodation. We’ve not planned anything for this afternoon to allow you to recover from your flight, so relax or head out for a wander!

Day 2 - Fascinating Old and New Delhi

Today you will have a full tour of Old and New Delhi. Your guide will explain the full history and highlight the contrast between the Old and New regions of the city. A highlight of the tour is a guided walk or cycle rickshaw through the sprawling narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, where you can absorb the sights, sounds and fascinating local life in the depths of Old Delhi. The tour takes approximately 5 hours, and the remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 3 - Romantic sights of Agra

You will rise early and transfer to Agra by private car this morning. After settling in to your accommodation, your guide will take you around Agra’s key sights, one of the highlights being the magnificent Red Fort. Later this afternoon, you will finish the day by enjoying the sunset from the quiet gardens of Mehtab Bagh, which sit behind the spectacular Taj Mahal. A peaceful and magical experience.

Day 4 - The magic of the Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is one of the most romantic and iconic buildings in the world, and one that most certainly lives up to it’s hype. We recommend visiting at sunrise, when the crowds are a little quieter and the ethereal early morning light adds to the magical atmosphere. After your visit, you will continue your journey to the Pink City and capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The remainder of the day is free to spend as you wish.

Day 5 - Stunning palaces and impressive architecture

Today your guide will join you in exploring the beautiful old city of Jaipur, discovering the imposing Amber Fort and intricate facade of the Palace of the Winds. Learn about the fascinating workings behind Jantar Mantar Observatory and soak up the colourful atmosphere of this beautiful city. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at your own leisure.

Day 6 - Colour and vibrancy of Jaipur's old Bazaars

Relax or explore Jaipur under your own steam today. Perhaps jump in a rickshaw and explore the streets, experience a little shopping at the street markets or enjoy an authentic Rajasthani lunch. Make sure you keep your camera handy as the colourful mounds of spices, dusty roads and enchanting characters of the local people make for some fantastic photographs.

Day 7 - Final journey back to Delhi

After a leisurely morning in Jaipur enjoying breakfast in the tranquil surroundings of your hotel, your driver will collect you and transport you back to Delhi for your final evening in India.

Day 8 - Head to the Maldives!

Catch your flight to the Maldives this morning, then hop on a 30 minute speedboat to your island home for the next 4 nights.

Arrive at Baros in plenty of time for a drink at the stunning Lighthouse Lounge bar taking in the view out to sea, followed by dinner and a restful nights sleep.

Days 9 to 11 - Enjoy Baros

Spend your days however you choose – snorkelling is a must, as the underwater world of the Maldives is as important as the above sea-level world! You can also head out on boat trips, do some watersports, unwind in the spa or simply enjoy your gorgeous villa and the perfect beach just outside.

We’ve chosen Baros for this sample itinerary, as it’s conveniently located in the North Malé Atoll making for a quick transfer from the airport by speedboat, and is a medium sized, well appointed island with consistently excellent reviews.

Baros is an adult-only island so we will recommend alternative options for families.

Day 12 - Last day

You can stay and enjoy the island right up until the last moment that your speedboat needs to leave for your flight home. Safe flight!
