Frequently Asked Questions

  • The minimum budget you need for the pool alone will be in excess of $6m USD and a $10m USD is a more realistic number for a finished pool. You should budget at least $250k for the concept & start-up phase of your project. Construction costs vary greatly depending on local conditions and the scale of the project.

  • You need a minimum of 3 acres (1.5 hectares) for the smallest surf project. Our SurfPools can be very compact, but you will want to include space for amenities & parking.

  • This depends on many specific circumstances and how far you are along on your specific development path. We are happy to assess your project and help develop realistic timelines depending on your situation.

  • This depends on which product you choose. In our current product portfolio, our largest & highest capacity SurfPools can accommodate over 90 surfers in different skill zones. We also have developed compact, highly profitable products with a faster return on investment.

  • Our highest capacity pools can theoretically generate 3000 waves per hour, but this is unrealistic for operational purposes. We prefer to generate high quality waves on demand, matched to the number of surfers and their skill level. We will assess your project on a specific basis to match the objectives with the most appropriate product.

  • The diversity of waves we can produce is simply astounding. We can create waves well over 2m tall and with a power that even pro-surfers will find challenging. As every surfer knows, the shape of a wave can be just as critical as the size. With that in mind we can also create waves with a soft take-off and then a barrelling section giving every surfer the opportunity to spend time in the green room!

  • This is a very detailed question, and depends entirely on the wave quality you want. We can match the energy profile of any other technology for a given wave quality, but we can also create those waves in a more compact space. So you will save energy throughout the construction process, and use less water for your project.
