Delivered by regional development agencies across the country, the Steel and Aluminum Initiative is a $100-million national program providing non-repayable contributions to bolster the productivity and competitiveness of SMEs operating within the Canadian steel and aluminum supply chain.

FedDev Ontario was allocated $39.04 million to deliver the Steel and Aluminum Initiative in southern Ontario.

The initiative proved to be popular in all regions of Canada, and the number of applications far exceeded the total funding available.

Funding under this initiative ended on March 31, 2020. Applications are no longer being accepted.
