To earn a living online, this is what I’d focus on…

This weekend I had a really scary experience.

I actually let the stress and anxiety of building a business get the best of me and it led to a little health scare.

I’m not going to get into it in this email but, if you follow me on Facebook, I shared all of the details around that experience.

Having this little scare made me realize something…

We need to simplify and stop focusing in too many different directions at the same time.

Joe and I are really working to get to a point where we only work 3 days per week and have 4 day weekends every week. We’re forcing ourselves to simplify and get more done in less time.

This has me reflecting on the question, “if I could do only one thing to earn my income, what would it be?”

“What is the lowest friction way to earn a living and spend less time working?”

Here’s what it would be for me…

  • I would pick 3 or 4 affiliate products that I believe in and could really get behind. I would write one or two articles around each product that really sold why people should want them.
  • I would use Google ads and bid on the product name itself so that, when people search the product name, my article shows up in the top listings.
  • Anyone who viewed my article, I would then retarget them on Facebook and through Google Display network and bring them back to my affiliate link.

And that’s it… It’s simple. I have no product fulfillment costs, no customer service headaches, no development costs… Just simple ads to content that presell products.

Of course you can do this exact process with your own products as well. I just personally like focusing on being a marketer and letting others handle the hard stuff afterwards.

There are some downsides to this model… You don’t have total control over the sales page of the product you’re sending people to. You can’t really have conversion pixels that know when a sale was made. And a few other little things but, overall, it’s been my favorite (and lowest friction) way of making money.

Saying that, we do have a course about how we set this stuff up.

It’s called the Perpetual Audience Growth course. In all likelihood, we’ll stop selling it fairly soon. We earn enough doing what we teach that we don’t really need to teach it. However, we found ourselves re-explaining the concept so many times that it was just easier for us to make a course.

If you want to learn more about it, grab the details here…

Looking forward to diving deeper with you!
